The stuffed figures

Miss Quill's collection: some three hundred tagged, stuffed monsters on the shelves of the magistrate's office (more than a thousand in her apartment), the dungeon's Beanie Babies, as Carl sees them; a stuffed armoured rider on a black horse, tagged Kimaris, in a glass case forged on the fifteenth floor, is the most valuable thing Carl owns and he does not know why.

Progression

Bautista's Eclipse Pyxies come alive on a mantaur's face as the room dims (ch. 51); his achievement box holds an electronic guidebook that tells him what each of his stuffed animals does (ch. 57). At the stairwell he warns that the Kimaris figure is one of the brothers of Sheol, with a summoning time of the remainder of the floor, and Samantha demands that Kimmy be given to her (ch. 87).
