Mole Man general-store keeper at station 83 with sixteen Earth paperbacks, one missing its ending, who trades five for five Louis L'Amours and later the Battery Fabricator for the rest and a jug of moonshine. 'There are a lot of my kind on this floor… They're all book hogs!'

He reads Andre Norton; Carl tells him Norton was a woman (ch. 4). Five Sacketts for five paperbacks; 'In a couple of days, he'll be jonesin' pretty hard.' He begs for the rest and gives up the Battery Fabricator, whose placement in the first shop on the floor Carl suspects was no coincidence (ch. 26).
