Arc
Delivered shivering by Bomo (ch. 37): a merchant, not a hunter, of Deep Mind and the Dark Hive, who explains mantis mating law, the Burrowers and the Great Consensus, and chooses death in battle over three dishonours — ruin, revenge on his family, a forbidden mating: he lunges at Carl's crotch — a Super Naughty flag, a naked teleport into a nest, and a jackpot of gold to the ankles (ch. 38). His words stick in Carl's head (ch. 39).
