By book

Astrid in book 3 — The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook

Level 125, cardiovascular magic, 'one of the most metal things ever.' She refunds four hundred of five hundred and grants free security; Carl asks that Bomo and The Sledge be kept and unpunished (ch. 9).

Astrid in book 5 — The Butcher's Masquerade

The Desperado Club's level 125 assistant manager, a Bloodlust Sprite adept in cardiovascular magic, who sets Carl's blood boiling — not to kill him — at the door where he hides with Pearson (ch. 58), and delivers him to Orren, who has two things to discuss before he leaves for the collapse (ch. 59).

Astrid in book 6 — The Eye of the Bedlam Bride

Sized up by Katia's cherry-bomb test: Intelligence 150, boiling blood, a heart animated as a mob, Cosmic Sense, Summon Guard five times a day (ch. 31). She takes the main stairs instead of her secret closet because she felt the Nothing tear (ch. 32); unleashes the vorpals; moves to shield Carl from a totem and dies with her wings in his hand and her eyes in a crow's beak — 'Save my children. I was almost done. I would be free soon' (ch. 32). Her sons weep for her; Damascus blames her husband, who wanted her dead; Carl thinks she got them jobs at the Penis Parade to keep them safe (ch. 33, ch. 34).

Astrid in book 7 — This Inevitable Ruin

Dead since the sixth floor, when Carl and Katia assassinated her; her last words still haunt him when Hamed, her husband, is named as the Night Wyrm (ch. 10). A painting of her hangs in the hallway of the liaison's office, where the cork Growler Gary spits leaves a mark on it (ch. 36, ch. 37). Zeynep's corpse brings back the assault on the Desperado Club in which she died (ch. 67), and Carl counts the moment Katia killed her among the moments that changed them (ch. 82).
