Motif · from book 6
Odette and Mordecai
The prologue's crawl and its bill: Odette as Mordecai's manager, staring into the eye, bribing Huanxin, tricking her, and killing Uzzi to buy a key; Armita dead for it the next season; Mordecai drinking for centuries while Odette watches. 'It's about Mordecai. It always has been.' A trust set aside; a plan to die killing Huanxin. Mordecai will not say a word of it.

Odette and Mordecai in book 6 — The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
The prologue (ch. 0). Mordecai: the last time someone did not do what she wanted, his brother died, and he would rather Carl stayed away from her (ch. 19); Zev: she was his manager long ago, he dislikes her, and he threw a chair at Chaco's head (ch. 21). An ancient beef among Odette, Huanxin and Mordecai that ended with Mordecai's brother dead and Odette arrested (ch. 35); Odette's own account — the goddess trapped, killed by Chaco, Uzzi dead: 'It's about Mordecai. It always has been' (ch. 37).
