Yolanda Martinez 13, Meadow Lark's CNA, level 5, with a bow and a quiver so big it almost drags on the floor (ch. 22); the one who explains why the spiral's peepholes cannot be bombed through, who places the redoubt's braces and is thrown by one (ch. 26), who brings up Jack's continence (ch. 31). She has to shoot Jack in the temple a half-second too late and dies standing over Randall (ch. 38), and the narrative stops to say who she was: sixty-hour weeks for her son's college, a warmth Carl wishes he had grown up with. 'She lived her entire life as a hero. She died as one, too.'
