Notes from Ikicha, Justice Light, Drakea, Ossie, Priestly, Allister and Carl's own twenty-fifth edition punctuate the war (ch. 12, ch. 20, ch. 23, ch. 30, ch. 42, ch. 49, ch. 54, ch. 55, ch. 59, ch. 73); the interludes are its authors' cards — Porthus, Dante, Tipid, Everly, Milk, Volteeg, Justice Light, Rosetta, York (ch. 1, ch. 5, ch. 11, ch. 16, ch. 26, ch. 35, ch. 56, ch. 69, epilogue). Milk gives Carl Stayfast Ink and tells him her recipes faded because she changed inks (ch. 75).
