Book 6 — The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
Shrine seven, 'the river mother', who 'almost made it to the halls on her own, but she couldn't keep her power' (B6 ch. 15); Katia's message names her as the only way out from under the crown, and Carl has Bomo rebuild her obelisk and the reanimated daggers carry the Sun of Reawakening to it. 'The Goddess Yemaya has re-ascended. She is welcomed into the family by all' (B6 ch. 15). She rises from her own fountain as a topless siren with twin tails, Goddess of Rivers, level 250, 'a retainer of Eileithyia'; her card says she was once goddess of all waters, queen of love and bringer of life, forgotten by all but her friend. The slugpox, she says, is her brother Asojano's doing, 'He did it on purpose'; she gives Donut The Thief and Sister Ines a card, sends Bomo to Larracos, and tries to recruit Donut (B6 ch. 17). Mordecai: 'Eileithyia's retainer appears to be Yemaya, and Huanxin needed to find a way to get her resurrected' (B6 ch. 19). The Cuban chapters call her the Mother of Waters (B6 ch. 55).
