Opening
“Uh, Donut?” I said, looking down at the cat.
Summary
Donut talks, and demands her full title: GC, BWR, NW Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk. The biscuit's Enhanced Growth has made her Strength 11, Intelligence 11, Constitution 2, Dexterity 8, Charisma 25; she is no longer a pet but a crawler, and Carl is her manservant. Her Legendary Quadruped box holds a tiara she puts on before Mordecai can finish his warning; only then can Carl read it: the Crown of the Sepsis Whore, a place in the Blood Sultanate's royal line, and a duty to kill the Sultan and all the royal family before the tenth floor.
With the highest stat total she leads the party, names it The Royal Court of Princess Donut, makes Carl her Royal Bodyguard and herself Grand Champion Best in Dungeon. The titles mean nothing, Mordecai says, and Carl can always leave the party. Donut scratches at the guild door, and it opens.
Characters
- Princess Donut — Talks; learns Magic Missile from a tome; puts on the crown unread; names the party.
- Carl — Reads the crown's warning once it is on; demoted to manservant, promoted to Royal Bodyguard.
- The System AI — The crown's card: 'Who’s a dirty girl? You’re a dirty girl!'
- Bea — Still the family in Donut's version: Carl has been with it 'for a while now'.
Locations
- The First Floor — Only the guild door, which opens for the cat at the chapter's end.
Motifs
- Carl's bare feet — Still barefoot and pantsless as the party is named
- 'Goddamnit, Donut' — Not yet said; the crown she puts on unread is the first thing that deserves it.
