Summary
Zev: two feet tall, a kua-tin in a water-filled glass helmet and a 1950s space suit, Borant's Assistant Communications Representative, here to inform them they have been assigned a PR agent: her. Odette has first refusal on every floor; one more show per floor is mandatory. Carl's temper, rare and cold, goes: 'You have already taken everything from us. Do not ask us to give more than what we have.'
Zev's answer — her family will be wiped out if she says the wrong thing to a Party boss; everyone here is afraid; 'we are all parts of the same, inexorable machine' — is broken by Donut comparing it to Chuck and Blair, and the fish and the cat become friends over Gossip Girl. Mordecai, unheard: the Bloom, ultra-nationalists, a bankrupt system, and Borant forced to end the game as fast as it can. Then the guild door opens on a waist-high pile of grubs.
