Paz Lo

A prison guard from Havana, armoured, warm, who teaches Carl the land crabs and monk seals and warns him about the sister with his last breath: Ogun's handprint burns his face to muscle and makes his debuff permanent; he refuses the potion — 'My soul is at peace' — and Sister Ines stabs a flag into his neck. A common green card, summoned to beg for no more, and then, with Katia's bolt in a goddess's eye and his self-destruct at her neck, 'Paz Lo. The God Predator. Level 101 Former Crawler.' Donut tears his card in half because, Katia says, it is what he wanted.

Arc

The kind one of the Havana crew, who teaches Carl the crabs and the seals (ch. 6); burned to the skull by Ogun's handprint, his debuff made permanent, refusing the potion — 'My soul is at peace' — and telling Carl the truth about the sister with his last minutes (ch. 16). Flagged into a common card by her as he dies (ch. 16); summoned to beg 'No more' and chewed by a serpent (ch. 56); summoned by a goddess and jailed by Katia's shield (ch. 68); and, with a bolt in Ysalte's eye and his self-destruct at her neck, the God Predator, a Former Crawler (ch. 69, ch. 72).
