Series arc
In hindsight, after book 7
A charred glass case from Miss Quill's collection in the magistrate's office on the third floor held a plush 'armored man atop a black horse' tagged Kimaris, the most valuable thing in Carl's inventory (B2 ch. 23); a Sheol Glass Reaper Case, forged in Sheol's fires (B2 ch. 24), and a figure that turned out to be a demon and Unique (B3 ch. 29). Shi Maria, inside Carl, asked 'You have a summoning totem of Kimaris? Does Samantha know this?' (B6 ch. 71). Book 7 answers her: Bautista's guidebook lists him as one of the brothers of Sheol with a summoning time of 'the remainder of the floor', and Samantha knows him — 'Kimmy', one of her best friends, who gave her the potion that put her baby in her, and whose mother she now means to kill (B7 ch. 87).
As of book 7. A Unique plush, once in a Sheol Glass Reaper Case, in Carl's inventory, unpulled since the third floor; by the end of book 7 a name with a family: one of the brothers of Sheol, summon time the remainder of a floor, and 'Kimmy', the best friend who gave Samantha the potion that put her baby in her — which she had forgotten, and cannot say why. Samantha means to kill his mother. The tag is still on.

| Where | The line | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Book 2, Ch. 23 | A single, charred box sat half-buried in the debris. […] It was one of Miss Quill’s glass cases. […] The plush creature within was an armored man atop a black horse. I peered at the tag, which said “Kimaris.” | The figure, from Miss Quill's glass cases, salvaged after Carl dynamited the magistrate's office on the third floor. |
| Book 3, Ch. 29 | He was talking about a Sheol Glass Reaper Case. […] My Kimaris figure was a demon. It was also Unique, not legendary or rare. | Named a demon on the Iron Tangle; a brother of Sheol by book 7. |
| Book 3, Ch. 29 | He said these are actual summonings. | A true summoning, not a copy: the reason a Unique Kimaris figure is a demon on a string. |
| Book 6, Ch. 61 | there’s a queen, who’s in charge, and she has four sons, the princes | The family the book-7 line puts Kimaris in: Sheol's queen and her four princes. |
| Book 6, Ch. 71 | So many things. So many possibilities. Kimaris? You have a summoning totem of Kimaris? Does Samantha know this? Hmm. You have a war mage head? […] What to do? | Shi Maria's question; Samantha's answer comes at the ninth floor's stairs: 'Give him to me. Give him now!' |
