Motif · Book 5, The Butcher's Masquerade

The mongoliensis

Mongo's species, at last in the wild: Kiwi's pack of forty females who probe Point Mongo, follow Donut once their leader is charmed, wreck a pub, chase Big Tina, and dance in hand-sewn sea costumes before leaping off a stage into the hunters. Their dots turn red when Kiwi becomes a bear; most die in the pit, some run into the brambles. 'I'm so sorry we couldn't save all of you.'
