Garret

Tserendolgor's pet, a tummy acher received for going to CrawlCon: a level-20 lumpy meatball as tall as Carl, no arms, stubby legs, a giggling walk and a single-toothed mouth that could swallow him whole, and a tank for damage. 'People loved the thing.'

Race and class, since book 6: Tummy Acher

First appears: Book 5

Series arc

As of book 7. Ren's tummy acher, won at CrawlCon in book 5 and killed by her in book 6 so he could live with Carl, is level one again in book 7 with a new name: Sir Rendlegore, Rend, bonded over chowder and named by Louis held up like Simba. Meatball to beach ball to something much bigger; the Enchanted Tooth Cap of Hi-Yo Silver that pulls him to Carl through walls; Wrecking Ball, and the back half of Gustavo 3 in a red mist. He giggles, blows bubbles in gore, and says 'Fun' as the nuke goes off.

Through book 5

Ren's pet-show entry, a giggling meatball with one tooth (B5 ch. 64); the last on the stage (B5 ch. 70); a beacon beside her flamethrower in the pit (B5 ch. 76); Best in Show (B5 ch. 77).

Through book 6

Rolls Ren clear of her own worm (B6 ch. 58); killed by her with a crystal knife so that he can live with Carl — sylvan crystal, hobgoblin sweat, a rivenwing's bite, undead flesh, and now Reaper Gaze — level one, one tooth, in a carrier in Carl's inventory, a name still owed (B6 ch. 59, B6 ch. 60).

Through book 7

Level one again, one tooth, no memory, and a new name: Sir Rendlegore, Rend, bonded over chowder and named by Louis (B7 ch. 5); meatball to beach ball (B7 ch. 15); the Enchanted Tooth Cap of Hi-Yo Silver and Wrecking Ball (B7 ch. 65); much bigger, and Gustavo 3's back half in a red mist — 'Good boy' (B7 ch. 72). He giggles, and says 'Fun' as the nuke goes off (B7 ch. 80).

By book

Garret in book 5 — The Butcher's Masquerade

Ren's pet-show entry, a level-20 tummy acher as tall as Carl, a giggling meatball with one tooth (ch. 64); wiped clean of dirt (ch. 66); the last entrant on the stage (ch. 70); a beacon beside her flamethrower in the pit (ch. 76); 'Pet Show Champion. Best in Show' (ch. 77).

Garret in book 6 — The Eye of the Bedlam Bride

A meatball tank that giggles; rolls Ren clear of a worm (ch. 58); killed by her with a crystal knife so that he could live with Carl — level one, one tooth, a new weakness called Reaper Gaze, in a carrier in Carl's inventory (ch. 59, ch. 60).

Garret in book 7 — This Inevitable Ruin

The Used Pet achievement rambles about a pet Carl has not actually adopted yet (ch. 2); Donut, betrayed, asks whether it is Garret — 'You said he died!' — and it is not, yet: half a fist of tummy acher with Linus hair and one tooth, level one, dead five times, memory gone with the fifth. He climbs into Mongo's mouth giggling, bonds over a bowl of chowder — 'Ca, Ca, Ca' — and is named by Louis held up like Simba (ch. 5). Meatball to beach ball in one fight (ch. 15), knee-high in the trenches (ch. 21), level 10 and refusing showers (ch. 29), eating a rhino's boot (ch. 28), gnawing Victory's belt (ch. 73). The Enchanted Tooth Cap of Hi-Yo Silver pulls him to Carl from five kilometres, possibly through walls (ch. 65); Wrecking Ball turns him into a cannonball. Much bigger by the Nest, he giggles over the ridge and takes the back half off Gustavo 3 in a red mist: 'Good boy' (ch. 72). Donut, who thinks him disgusting, will never forget it (ch. 73). He blows bubbles in gore, licks blood off the ground, and says 'Fun' as the nuke goes off (ch. 68, ch. 69, ch. 80).
