Character · Book 6, The Eye of the Bedlam Bride
Sister Ines
Sister Ines Quiteria: a Havana brown cat-woman with a magical trident and a horror of false gods, the last of a Havana crew Carl takes for two convicts and a prison nun. Paz's dying confession: the men were guards, and she was the inmate — El Segador de La Habana, the Reaper of Havana, who poisoned every sister in her convent — and her race carries Toxoplasma, a charm that makes you love her and forget she told you. She flags dying Paz into a card, charms a sea serpent with poetry as the Nebulars' bard, and dies on a hallway floor mid-charge under Louis's knife, her body a doorway for Ysalte.

Arc
The nun
A Havana brown cat-woman with a trident and a horror of false gods, met with two cousins Carl takes for convicts, and her for someone who worked at the prison (ch. 5); she cuts Anton's fingers off to break Oshun's charm and stands between a god and her friends with a trident, and is Shelved for it (ch. 15, ch. 16). Paz's dying confession: she was the inmate, the Reaper of Havana who poisoned every sister in her convent, and her race carries a charm that makes people love her and forget she told them (ch. 16). Carl chooses separation over killing her; she stabs a flag into Paz's neck as he dies and walks out of the temple without a word (ch. 16, ch. 17).
The poet
She blocks Donut, warns the monk seals and turns a sneak attack into a war of attrition (ch. 20, ch. 25); with a Book of Rhymes from her patron she charms the Madre de Aguas and, through it, every creature in earshot, and rides the serpent's head reciting (ch. 54, ch. 55). Force-fled by Quan, she loses her key (ch. 56); then, 'filled with power' by a patron who kicked her imbalance back into place, commands the freed demons and a Demon Prince (ch. 60), having called hell the wages of sin from atop the snake: 'There are no aliens. It’s demons' (ch. 55). She dies running down a hallway screaming 'Sinner!', asleep by a wand, under Louis's knife — and her corpse is the door her goddess comes through (ch. 65, ch. 66).
