The Twister

The flying house that was the dreadnaught Wasteland, flown by Louis and Firas: the changelings' transport to the sixth floor, a bomb rack over a town, a ballista built from its garage-door opener, the escape plan — until mantis nymphs take it and the Sledge crashes it into two castle towers 'like helicopter in game GTA'. 'DON'T CRASH THE TWISTER!'

Series arc

Through book 7

What Firas wanted to call it (B7 ch. 6).

Through book 4

The name Firas and Louis give the flying house (B4 ch. 28): the Wasteland's 'castle', a suburban house under one great balloon with its top floor torn away, flown by Louis and Firas with a house full of changelings across the lacuna to Imani and Elle's bubble, and sent through the portal to the sixth floor without them (B4 ch. 33, B4 ch. 34).

Through book 5

Louis and Firas have it back from the changelings but cannot clear the trees (B5 ch. 3, B5 ch. 8); pterodactyls attack it (B5 ch. 36); Tent the House is misted from it (B5 ch. 50); Louis kills a level 173 from it (B5 ch. 51); it carries the bombs over the raided towns (B5 ch. 60). At the masquerade it is the changelings' way in over the towers, is taken by mantis nymphs, and is crashed by the Sledge into the last two turrets — 'DON'T CRASH THE TWISTER!' (B5 ch. 70, B5 ch. 72, B5 ch. 73).

Through book 6

Portal explosions aboard it, remembered (B6 ch. 61).

The Twister in book 4 — The Gate of the Feral Gods

The name Firas and Louis give the flying house (ch. 28): the Wasteland's core under one balloon, decapitated of its dreadnaught, flown by Louis and Firas to Imani and Elle's bubble with a house full of changelings, and sent through a portal to the sixth floor without them (ch. 33, ch. 34).

The Twister in book 5 — The Butcher's Masquerade

The flying house, recovered by Louis and Firas from the changeling refugees (ch. 3); Bonnie did something to it — a garage-door opener became a ballista (ch. 8). A giant breastplate could be dropped on Katia from it (ch. 36); it goes south to help Chris and Li Na against death monkeys (ch. 37); Louis's Tent the House covers a wider area from its deck (ch. 50) and bombs the second creeper to death (ch. 51); it is given to the changelings for their chance (ch. 56). The hunters' anti-air guns are built with it in mind (ch. 60); it rises over the trees carrying enough explosives to level a town (ch. 61) and hovers low over the church (ch. 62); most of the party boards it (ch. 63); taken by nymphs, it is crashed into two towers (ch. 72, ch. 73).

The Twister in book 6 — The Eye of the Bedlam Bride

Remembered through the Cookbook's entries — something that happened on the fifth floor aboard it, with Katia, Louis and Firas (ch. 61).

The Twister in book 7 — This Inevitable Ruin

Party Planner runs on the same kind of soul crystal and is named for what Firas wanted to call the Twister — 'I'd told him it was stupid' (ch. 6); Bonnie finds the new ship faster (ch. 14).
