The pet Donut chooses from the kobolds' menagerie on the second floor — a seven-inch, pink-feathered 'Mongoliensis' that bites her nose and fights anything it sees. Bonded as her Royal Steed hours before the floor closes. Odette supplies the translation: velociraptor.

Immune to the cornets' Queasy (ch. 6); thrown by Gore-Gore with one backhand (ch. 11); a saddle he hates and a rider he throws onto the alchemy table (ch. 10); two clockwork copies lost testing a third rail, one to the rail and one to a train (ch. 10). He runs the track with Donut aboard, 'REALLY, REALLY FAST' by her report (ch. 14, ch. 15), kills Growler Gary fourteen times face first (ch. 26), dances in a room of blood (ch. 29), and carries Donut through a wall to Carl (ch. 33).
