The bowl
The air quadrant of bubble 543: a not-quite-circular bowl three miles across on top of the Necropolis of Anser, floored in stone under an inch of sand, stepped, dotted with wrecked flying machines from the last war, with a camel town at either end and a dome four or five kilometres overhead. It cracks in half under a whining puppy.

Arc
The air quadrant: sand over stone over a tomb and a forcefield cave-mouth to the quadrant below (ch. 1); wrecked flying machines from the last war (ch. 2, ch. 3); three miles across from a rooftop (ch. 2); five degrees hotter in the middle (ch. 9). Thorny devils by day, dune scythes in the heat, Night Frights in the dark (ch. 3, ch. 6, ch. 10), and a cyborg hawk roosting after each storm (ch. 8, ch. 9). Three craters and a hole in the tomb's roof from falling bodies (ch. 12); half of it breaks away under a puppy (ch. 29); a demon's whip cleaves what is left (ch. 34).
