Mordecai

The tutorial guide assigned to Carl and Donut: a former crawler, born skyfowl, who chose Changeling and reached the eleventh floor of his own season, now serving out an indentureship as a shapeshifting NPC in a guild room with his mother's ashes and a photograph of his brother. He is bound by rules about what he may say, and he says as much as he can.

Arc

Pocket Kuma

Mordecai spends the sixth floor as a fuzzy half-fairy bear too small to open his own door (ch. 2), wanting the melee class for Donut and getting a diva (ch. 1). His shop is the Advanced Bomber's Studio and the Magic Workshop: Nitro Sludge explained badly (ch. 9), Major Charlie (ch. 22), Holy Goopers dipped in a sun god's shrine (ch. 44), Uncle Morty's weedkiller (ch. 50), a Charm Animal recipe he has chased for fifty cycles, paid for in a litre of Mongo (ch. 43, ch. 46). He says the ring is addictive (ch. 6) and 'Don't touch that knife' (ch. 10).

Obsolete

He explains the Guild of Suffering and the Night Wyrm (ch. 8), argues with a cleric and spawns a quest by accident (ch. 11), and loses a recipe mid-telling when Samantha hears they are with Signet (ch. 17). What Odette did to him, Odette says, explains 'Everything' (ch. 18); he testified against her once (ch. 43). 'I'm starting to feel a little obsolete' (ch. 39) is followed by his reading of Diwata's loophole (ch. 70), his diagnosis of where all the money now flows (ch. 60), and one Cascadia connected to the crawl (ch. 63). The man behind the prize counter is the man he attacked with a chair; he wants dynamite up his ass and the memorial crystal bought (ch. 69).
