Place · Book 7, This Inevitable Ruin
The Dungeon
The eighteen-floor structure that replaces the surface of the Earth at 2:23 in the morning, into which some thirteen million people descend: a maze of quadrant-sized squares, safe rooms, tutorial guilds and boss lairs, run as a broadcast for an interstellar audience and collapsing a floor at a time on a timer.

Arc
The ninth floor is a war on a plain the size of a country with a real city in its middle, and the dungeon behaves like one: no offensive magic for a week, gates a kilometre wide, a suppression field, and the AI running a temple fight by hand (ch. 14, ch. 53).
