Owes Carl a debt for avenging them, and tells him the quest Carl ruined by killing Miss Quill is no problem.

The other end of the line: four hundred gathered, twenty eaten by Terminus, a Kravyad neutralised and lost, fifty kilometres to the abyss, six hundred saved by carts and hats (B3 ch. 18, B3 ch. 20, B3 ch. 28). His secret is Miss Quill's stuffed monsters, true summonings from Jaxbrin Amusements, who now sponsor him (B3 ch. 29).

Through book 4

In an ant colony, spending stuffed monsters (B4 ch. 7); clears all four castles with most of his bubble dead (B4 ch. 20); goes down as a god rampages (B4 ch. 28); joins Katia, who says he is 'very lost' (B4 ch. 33).

Through book 5

He owns a stuffed back-alley mouser that becomes a decoy Donut (B5 ch. 34), sorts five hundred beanies for rare variants (B5 ch. 36, B5 ch. 57), and is with Katia now — 'I was a little worried that you […] You had a thing for her.' (B5 ch. 57). He holds her back from Eva (B5 ch. 67), cuts across the ballroom between two chainsaw-armed summons (B5 ch. 75), and is nearly killed with Tran in the pit (B5 ch. 76). His sisters' and cousin's corpses are the lemurs' bait (ch. 5, ch. 6); his name is on the Divider's corpse (ch. 18). Met at last outside the collapsing municipal building (ch. 23): a Tigran who wishes he had stayed human so God would recognise him, whose quest Carl ruined and whose family Carl avenged. 'Call me if you need me, and I will come.' Points the way to the second stairwell (ch. 25).

Carl's other switchboard: station 199 (ch. 4), the club-number trick and the first bounty talk (ch. 6), the end of the line. He gathers four hundred, loses twenty to Terminus, neutralises the Kravyad with a Voca Nye and loses the portal when she dies (ch. 18, ch. 19, ch. 20), walks fifty kilometres to the abyss, loses almost fifty on its walkway, and waits with six hundred while Carl's carts come (ch. 27, ch. 28). His secret is Miss Quill's stuffed monsters — true summonings, from Jaxbrin Amusements, his sponsor (ch. 29).
