The garage and the cul-de-sac

The Royal Court's checkered-floor garage — Hedy's, then the truck's home between heats — on a suburban cul-de-sac under a red sun where nine garage doors are numbered by each team's place in the last heat and the lost teams' houses fall empty in order; Team Free Love's lawn chairs and kiddie pool at four, the Dominators' 'Free Bird' at three; a foot portal to Hungry Eyes. Garages are not safe rooms. Combined with Prepotente's for the parade.
