Garret in book 7 — This Inevitable Ruin
The Used Pet achievement rambles about a pet Carl has not actually adopted yet (ch. 2); Donut, betrayed, asks whether it is Garret — 'You said he died!' — and it is not, yet: half a fist of tummy acher with Linus hair and one tooth, level one, dead five times, memory gone with the fifth. He climbs into Mongo's mouth giggling, bonds over a bowl of chowder — 'Ca, Ca, Ca' — and is named by Louis held up like Simba (ch. 5). Meatball to beach ball in one fight (ch. 15), knee-high in the trenches (ch. 21), level 10 and refusing showers (ch. 29), eating a rhino's boot (ch. 28), gnawing Victory's belt (ch. 73). The Enchanted Tooth Cap of Hi-Yo Silver pulls him to Carl from five kilometres, possibly through walls (ch. 65); Wrecking Ball turns him into a cannonball. Much bigger by the Nest, he giggles over the ridge and takes the back half off Gustavo 3 in a red mist: 'Good boy' (ch. 72). Donut, who thinks him disgusting, will never forget it (ch. 73). He blows bubbles in gore, licks blood off the ground, and says 'Fun' as the nuke goes off (ch. 68, ch. 69, ch. 80).
