Imani

A young nurse from the Meadow Lark eldercare facility in Wenatchee, ninety pounds and level 10 with twelve crawler-killer skulls when Carl meets her: she had to put down the residents the monsters would otherwise have burned. Says almost nothing. Shows Carl how to use the pedicure kit.

Arc

The bedrock: 'That alien had been correct to target her for assassination' (ch. 78). She reads Dong's truth with her wings (ch. 24), keeps a fleshmancer hidden in her guild (ch. 39), drains Akuma with an anti-magic shield while telling a bingo story (ch. 37), and coordinates every heat's chart, every deal-taker's stripped vehicle, the Cabaret volunteers and the Garden of Deliverance (ch. 73, ch. 78). Her card becomes a permanent fairy (ch. 36); her family's what-if apartment shows a man seizing whom Donut takes for her father — 'That’s not my dad' — and herself haggard (ch. 75, ch. 76). She calls Carl's eleventh-floor plan insane and refuses a deal: 'If we’re going to lose, I want to go down fighting' (ch. 69, ch. 78). At the portal she wraps Chris in her wings and tells him to run and not look back (ch. 85); her giant shell cannot leave the building and cries into a dog (ch. 87). She cures the slugpox at last (ch. 84).
